Niran brings more than 35 years of extensive experience in the field of Marketing, Branding & Customer Service spanning various industries mainly in the Healthcare and fast moving consumer goods (FMCG) MNCs such as GLAXO SMITHKLINE (Panadol) and RECKITT BENCKISER (Dettol) including local conglomerates such as Boustead Holding and Golden Hope (Sime Darby).

His last posting was as the Vice President with Malaysian Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) He served for nine terms as the Deputy Chairman of the Asia Pacific ICT Alliance(APICTA). He was elected based on his active dedication, passion and devotion to drive the Digital Economy transformation for the region.

Among others, Niran was also the Board member of World Congress on IT (WCIT) 2007/8. On the local front he was the Co-Chair of Digital Government Technical Working Group set up by the Prime Minister with the aim to transform Digital Government service, and in this capacity as the driver of Digital Government service improvement he has high level membership with the United Nation as well as the governments of UK, Singapore, France, US and Australia among others.

He has been invited as a speaker, moderator and panel at various global forums on Digital Economy and Digital Government transformation.

Niran’s 22 years tenure at MNCs including at GLAXO SMITHKILE and RECKITT BENCKISER include as a Director for Asia Pacific/Australia driving the entry and growth of the analgesic and antiseptics categories. He was also a member of the Global Leadership Team with Reckitt Benckiser UK responsible to chart the brand growth globally.

As a Director with Golden Hope he was responsible for growing the international business and led the conglomerate to design and develop the Global Marketing Management blueprint an initiative to transform Golden Hope as a marketing driven organisation.

MDEC : Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation

As the Vice President at MDEC and member of the Senior Leadership & Strategy Team, Niran’s primary thrust was focused on driving the national digital transformation agenda. In this capacity he was an instrumental member in developing the Digital Economy masterplan gaining endorsement and approval by the Cabinet. He was also the key Goverment Stakeholder point man for engagement and high level interactions with Federal and State governments.

He is also the Organising Chairman for two high level annual meetings Chaired by the Prime Minister, namely the International Advisory Panel and the Implementation Committee Meeting. His 11 years in MDEC exposed him to lead various Divisions and initiatives including Marketing, Branding, Customer Service, Stakeholder/Government Engagement, Bumiputra IT Entrepreneurs and lastly Digital Goverment Transformation.

Niran graduated with an MBA (International Business) from San Francisco. He holds a BSC Marketing Management from University of San Francisco; as well as a Diploma in Marketing from The Institute of Marketing UK.
